I'm Anastasiya Arkhypova , Ukrainian competitive figure skater, two-time and current Ukrainian National Champion in Figure Skating, two-time Junior Ukrainian National Champion, has represented Ukraine on many international competitions including Junior World Championships and Grand-Prix series events , and today I ask you for donations to help me get back to ice after the surgery.
Two months ago, I started experiencing pain in the left knee, but the competitive season was in full swing, so I didn't pay too much attention to it. Later after a fall during the practice, I felt more intense pain, and after the medical examination was diagnosed with a knee ligament sprain. I started treatment procedures but had to continue daily practices.
This October, while performing my short program at the international competition in Budapest, I fell down on the jump and could not continue my program due to extreme pain in the knee. I had to withdraw from competition and rush to do another medical examination and MRI, which revealed a more serious diagnosis: bucket-handle lateral meniscus tear and chondromalacia patellae (grade 2-3 by Outerbridge grading).
On November 26th, I underwent a knee arthroscopy surgery at the "Modern Orthopaedics" clinic in Kyiv, Ukraine, which costs 2000$. Thankfully, the surgery went well and without complication.
I'm attaching scans of the documents I have and MRI scan:
This surgery ends my current season, but not my career. Prognosis is good, and if you help me, the chances of successful recovery are high. Now everything depends on the recovery process. For the next month, I can only move with the support of crutches and need to start rehabilitation within 1-2 weeks. According to my rehabilitation doctor, recovery will take up to 3-5 months. It will require high-quality and intensive rehabilitation program for athletes with the best specialists, including intense 4-6 hours long daily exercises with a physical therapist. That's where I really need your help.
The estimated costs of the rehabilitation program are around 10000 USD (9030 EUR) for the whole rehabilitation period (3-5 months). Our family income is not high enough to cover it and this is an unaffordable sum of money for us at the moment, so I'm looking for help from everyone willing to support me, help me to return to competitive sport and regain my competitive strength. I've been skating from the age of 3 and figure skating is not just a big part of my life – it's my whole life. I will be immensely grateful for any support!
