Anastasia's Stem Cell Treatment

Donation protected
"The phone rang at 10 am and on the other end of the phone was a DCS case worker asking me to take a 2 week old baby girl that they could not find placement for due to her disabilities. At the time I was a foster parent. I was urged to come and look at her at our local children's hospital. When I got there I took one look at her and knew she was the little girl we had been waiting 15 years for."
-Christine Murray (Anastasia's adoptive mother)

Anastasia is an inquisitive 5 year old who was placed in foster care at 2 weeks old and later adopted.  She had her first surgery immediatly after birth  because she was born with spina bifida, meaning part of her spinal cord was outside her body. Although this surgery was successful she was left paralyzed from the waist down. Ana has a cyst in her brain and a shunt drains the cyst into her bladder. Her paralysis renders her incontinent which means she is cathed by her mother or another nurse every 4 hours daily to be able to relieve herself. She is succeptable to unrinary tract infections becuase of this and must take an antibiotic daily. Throughout multiple surgeries she has remained a happy, carefree little girl who enjoys playing and going to kindergarden.
Being wheelchair bound has had adverse affects on her body. Her inability to walk has caused limited circulation in her legs and feet so they are smaller than they should be and will not grow to support her without stem cell treatment. Stem Cell Treatment will be used to help regenerate and stimulate her cells to improve her kidney function, bowel function, and muscles so that she can support herself in an upright position for intermittent times.  The doctors at Beike Biotech have recommended a rigorous treatment plan across 25 days that would include 8 IV injections of stem cells from umbilical cords and 6 injections of Nerve Growth Factor. In addition to this she will undergo physical therapy, acupunctural therapy, and spend time in a hyperbaric chamber.  She was medically approved for this course of treatment on January 8, 2018 and her approval lasts 6 months until June 2018. This is our urgency in raising the funds for her treatment to take place in the next 6 months.
We are needing $41,500 which covers her treatment, hospital stay, and travel. This amount does not cover food or miscellaneous expenses that may be incurred during the 25 days. We are also asking for flight miles to be donated for this trip. Any monies raised over the asking amount will be used for her continued physical therapy and necessary equipment.
Her mother, grandmother, and sister want her to have the best quality life that she can have. Thank you for your support and please share her story.

Sarah (Anastasia's Sister)

I, Sarah Nakapaahu, will be withdrawing the money from this gofundme account for Anastasia's treatment and managing it with our mother, Christine Murray.
