Wheels For Ananda

Donation protected

This is my cousin, Ananda. (I call her Rosie.) And she is absolutely incredible. Ananda is a fun-loving, compassionate, hyper-intelligent, self-professed geek with funky fashion, a heart of gold, and a love for kitties.
Ananda is hilarious, fearless, and kind. She is talented, witty, relentlessly loyal, and ambitious. She is an accomplished artist and writer, with dreams of becoming an author and alt-model. Ananda is also a quadriplegic.
In January 2000, when we were 11 years old, Ananda was on her way home from school when she began to lose feeling in her hands. Within an hour, she had lost feeling everywhere in her body.
We spent years in various hospitals, eventually receiving a diagnosis that Ananda had suffered a brain-stem stroke. We learned that the damage was irreversible. She would be paralyzed for the rest of her life.
Just 3-months after being released from the hospital, Ananda was the featured artist for an exhibition at the Greensboro Children's Museum.

She now holds a degree in Web Technology from Forsyth Tech, and does web design...with her mouth.
So as I was saying, Ananda is absolutely incredible...and she could use your help.
Rosie currently has no access to reliable transportation. Public transportation cannot accommodate the needs of this young and vibrant individual. . The cost to rent a van for one evening is $200, and we struggle to even meet this expense just to visit our family on holidays.
Ananda has a lust for life that is way too large and beautiful to be stifiled from her lack of access to transportation. The currently reality is nothing less than heart-breaking.

My cousin is a force to be reckoned with, and has overcome so SO much. Given access to a handicap-accessible van, Ananda will be granted the independence and freedom that she deserves. She can make all of her doctors appointments that she needs to get to, (and there are many!). She would be able to get to a job to utilize her degree and travel to promote her art. This would absolutely change her life and I cannot even imagine what she will accomplish given this freedom.
We are asking for $40,000 for the purchase of an MV-1 or equivalent handicap-converted mini-van.
Anything you can give will help and we appreciate your supporting Ananda's thirst for freedom and independence.
