An oboe for Kailin

If you know Kailin Eskander, you know that she is a brilliantly talented and disciplined musician. For over twenty years, Kailin has dedicated her life to oboe performance, and from 2006 until early 2020, she served her country as an oboist for the U.S. Army Band, performing in various ensembles while taking on many teaching and leadership roles, and eventually achieving the status of Sergeant First Class (E7).
 
When Kailin left the Army earlier this year, she had been playing Army-owned instruments for over a decade, and she is now, for the first time, endeavoring to buy a quality (used) oboe while also supporting her family and looking for new ways to continue her musical career. So, for Christmas this year, I’d like to ask you—her friends, her family, her fellow musicians—to help with a contribution to a surprise oboe-fund for her. If we reach our goal of $3,000, this will go a long way toward getting an oboe back into the hands of this wonderful oboist.
 
I know Kailin would like to be able to play some Christmas music before the 25th of December, so my hope is to raise as much money as we can before Saturday, the 12th of December, when we let the secret out. So please, let’s keep this a surprise…and please support Kailin so that she can continue to enrich our world and our lives with the gift of music.
