An everlasting gift in memory of Bob Scanland

Donation protected
Robert Brian Scanland, known better as Bob or Bobby passed away peacefully on September 23rd, 2020 after succumbing to liver failure at the age of 52 with his mother Darlene at his side. Bob was a child when he had a brain tumour removed that impacted his brains ability to fully function and as such was placed on medications from that time on. While the medications kept him alive, they were also slowly damaging his liver.

With bright blue eyes and a heart of gold Bobby spread kindness and love to every life he touched, Bob was devoted to goodness. He was a member of many families and was always willing to lend a helping hand or his last dollar to anyone in need.

Bob was not a wealthy man, and he never dreamed of riches, he worked most of his adulthood as a support worker for challenged adults and adults with mental illness, where he strived to make a difference, that was his real passion... not money or recognition, he wanted to make a difference. Later on in life Bob used his incredible talent for creating ballon animals and worked for donations at local fairs, community and children's events around the Kootenays. Bob loved to make children smile, he loved to see their little eyes sparkle in awe of their new most precious possession.

With the funeral costs adding up and no means of savings the family is doing what they can to give Bob a private celebration of life this week.  The purchase of a memorial stone is just not feasible at this time. We are hopeful that with help from friends and community we can lighten the burden of funeral costs.

Together with your donation we will be able to purchase a modest headstone memorial that will be installed where Bob is to be laid to rest, in the Cranbrook Cemetery. Bob was a gift to our families and the community, we would like to invite you to be apart of an everlasting gift for Bob, a person who gave so much and asked for so little.

The money we raise together will be presented to his mother and father, Darlene and John Scanland, as a gift in memorial, from all those who loved Bobby and all the lives he touched while he was with us.

If you cannot spare at this time, the family asks that in lieu of donation and in memory of Bob, you do something kind today and everyday, just as Bob did.
