An “accessible home” is my dream for my special needs sons AbdAllah (age 22 years), & Ahmad (age 12 years). This home, is where they will live without boundaries. For maximum access to everything they need in a daily life routine, we need an elevator installed.

My name is Huma, and I am mother of these two beautiful & full of life children. Like any other parent, I wish my children to have the world… but their world is very small & limited. “Their home is their world.” So to make their world/home fulfill all their needs for happy life, I have started this project of making everything & every place at home accessible to them.

Ahmad’s hobbies are cooking, gardening & drawing. He is diagnosed with Spastic Diplegia Cerebral Palsy, Anxiety & Developmental delay. He had 9 surgeries done on both legs last year, on 25th June 2020 (& there are more surgeries coming up in his future as he grows). Eye surgeries for both his eyes are in his future as well.

AbdAllah has diagnosis of Scoliosis, Seizure disorder, Cerebral palsy, Global developmental delay & GERD. He had Spinal Fusion Surgery done in December 2016. He also had Surgeries done last year on both eyes, to remove Cataract (as he went 80% blind and was in a lot of stress).
He loves to play with water in bathtub, long walks & watching interactive cartoons... oh & playing with toys with "hand over hand assistance".

Other than these fun activities, they have stretches, exercises and certain fitness routines to follow every day. Both have their own equipment to use, which obviously take a lot of space and cannot be stored in one room.
This Accessible House will have everything in it to meet their specific personal everyday needs. For example, fitness room in basement, accessible kitchen, accessible backyard, accessible bathrooms, etc. The only thing which connects and put everything together in this house, is an Elevator.

I am raising funds to purchase an elevator to make this home accessible. It is my dream as a parent, and an everyday need for my children. I need community's help to make this dream come true.
