Hello, my name is Karen and I am hoping to raise funds to help my beloved younger brother Jonathan, so he can get his own powered wheelchair. It would massively improve the quality of his life, once he gets discharged from hospital.
Jonathan has been through so much and he is a survivor. He has now been in hospital for almost 15 months, due to an accident, leaving him with a broken back in multiple places. Worse still, he developed a very serious infection in his spine that eventually caused a compression injury. This permanently damaged the spinal cord. He is now paralysed from the chest down. He has been on the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport hospital for over 9 months. He has been working hard to retrain his body, so he can eventually function back in the community. He has worked hard with intensive physio and learned so many new methods and special techniques that show him ways to live more independently again. I have been amazed by the sheer determination he has shown to achieve this. The pain and hard work he has put into his recovery has been truly inspirational for me to witness.
Jonathan is a wonderful person, full of love and light and always happy to help uplift other peoples spirits. He has lost none of his zeal for life even through all the pain and struggles that he continues to endure. He has always been there, ready to help me with anything... I just want to repay him a little and getting him this electric wheelchair will truly make a massive difference to his life.
The type of wheelchair Jonathan needs is very complex and needs to be purchased with a package of support such as insurance in case of any breakdowns etc. The high cost puts it out of reach for Jonathan to purchase. As Jonathans big Sister, I really want to help him to get this powered wheelchair, and so I am asking for your help with this .
I have never used GoFundMe before but I am willing to ask for your help in the hope that together we can help Jonathan to regain some Independence and dignity.
Thank you so much for considering to help me achieve this. You will be helping one of the most wonderful and caring people to have a chance at independence.
