Amy's Eternal Reef

Donation protected

Amy Marlowe Anstead's life was cut short by breast cancer. She passed away on January 7, 2017. She brought so much joy to the world. She was truly Amy-zing.

As a marine biologist, Amy loved the ocean. Living and working by the ocean was her life dream and she lived it so well. She always said she wanted to be part of the ocean.

In her last days, I asked her what she wanted me to do with her remains. She said I should put them in the ocean, in a place where we could visit. We never had a better time by the water than the days we spent at Wrightsville Beach near Wilmington, NC. We lived there for four years. Our girls still have fond memories.

In April, 2018, a company called Eternal Reef will be creating an artificial reef off Topsail Island, NC, which will house Amy's remains. This reef allows sea life to grow on and around it. I can't think of anything Amy
would want more than to become part of the ocean. The company provides latitude and longitude markers for the exact location, and this reef will be just a short trip from Wilmington. I think this is a wonderful place for
Amy, and one that I will always want to visit. Avery, Paige and I will SCUBA dive down to it and see how life on the reef grows over the years.

The reef casting, viewing, and dedication will take place April 27-30, 2018 at Topsail Island and all are invited to attend.

Thank you.

We will never forget you, Amy. You will always be loved.
