Amy Wenske’s Double Transplant  Blessing

Our sister, Amy Wenske, is 27 years old. At the age of 2, she was diagnosed with Congenital Hepatic Fibrosis (liver disease) and Medulary Cystic Disease (kidney disease). When she was 10 years old we were told she would need a kidney transplant by the age of 15. Under God’s protection she made it to 22 before she was added to the transplant list in October 2014. Amy’s medical issues became more severe in October, 2016. Because of this, she was added to the liver transplant list In February 2017 as well. Amy’s illness has been overwhelming for her and our family. Due to the pain, suffering, debilitating black outs and hospital stays, she has missed countless family moments, memories, and holidays. To add to this, she could no longer drive or be left alone and had to be taken by mom or dad to dialysis 3 times a week.

Since 2017, our parents have traveled to Houston countless times for Amy’s doctor visits, lab work, and hospital stays. Her hospital stays became more frequent, lasting for 2 to 21 days.Although her medical expenses have mostly been covered by insurance, the years of paying for hotel, food, gas, maintenance and other expenses have taken their toll.

On February 27, 2020 our family’s lives changed forever, especially Amy’s. She received THE CALL. She was getting a liver and a kidney! On February 29th, she went in for a 7 ½ hour long surgery. It has been an emotional rollercoaster for our family after hearing the news; sitting in the hospital, praying for our sister and the donor’s family, realizing the pain they were experiencing, and waiting for the surgeon to come out after surgery with good news. Now starts the healing process.

Amy must stay in Houston near the hospital for at least 30 days. Mom or Dad will have to be with her. The financial burden of their combined loss of work, the cost of lodging, food, gas, hospital parking and the extreme cost of Amy’s medications for life has become overwhelming.

Our parents need your help. We cannot do this alone. The Wenske kids are asking for financial help, love and prayers from our friends and family in this time of need. Any donation will be greatly appreciated. We cannot express the gratitude we have in our hearts to be surrounded by amazing people who love and support our family.

 With all our love,

Amy, Keith, Christine, Chelsea, Rianne and Tiffany
