Amy "Pippi" Boyd's Breast Cancer Battle
Donation protected
Amy "Pippi" Boyd is a determined, strong woman, an animal lover, a roller derby bad ass, someone who has pulled herself up by her boot straps, faced challenges in life but come through them... and now, she faces the toughest challenge of all, breast cancer.
The Details:
With no family history of breast cancer, on January 18, 2019, Amy was diagnosed with stage 3, grade 3, triple negative breast cancer that has spread to her lymph nodes. Triple-negative breast cancer is considered to be more aggressive and have a poorer prognosis than other types of breast cancer and only 10-20% of breast cancer is this type.
Amy has already undergone a biopsy, echocardiogram, had surgery to install her chemo port & done genetic testing. A PET scan confirmed there is no other cancer in her body. She still has to get an MRI continue her chemo, have surgery and finally, radiation. This process will probably take about 9 months in total.
From Pippi:
"Cancer can happen to anyone. I considered myself a very healthy, fit person and I worked hard at staying active and eating right. Just by the grace of God, you win the lottery or you don't and I wouldn't want this to happen to anybody. No matter how well off you are, it's going to cost a lot and it's scary."
How You Can Help:
Unfortunately, even with insurance & her having just been diagnosed, she has already accumulated thousands of dollars in medical bills, which is why I started this campaign. As outlined above, she still has a long road to go & while the total cost is still unknown, based on the expenses she already has plus additional expenses we know are coming, time off of work, etc. I set the goal at what we think will currently help take the financial stress off of her. Anonymous donations are preferred but not required.
In addition to her financial needs, Amy is going to need support at home & in daily life. We have set up a meal train for people to sign up to bring her food as well as an Amazon wish list for items she needs. Via the wish list you can also purchase gift cards for meal delivery services for those times when she just wants to order food.

Cleaning for a Reason has approved Amy for two house cleaning services, however, I think she will also need additional help around the house, as well as just having people around to keep her company, make sure she is eating & to check in on her. If you would like to help with these needs, please visit her Care Calendar and enter the following log in information:

Thank you for your support; let's beat breast cancer!
