Hi, my name is Grisell and I set this fundraiser up in hopes of getting my cousin Amy and her partner Nikki, the help they so desperately need. On Wednesday, September 28th, Hurricane Ian made landfall on the west coast of Florida, causing major flooding as the storm surges took over, leaving homes, cars, and families in shambles.

My cousin Amy & Nikki lived in a rental property approximately 2 miles east of Naples Beach. Their plan was to ride out the storm there, as the news had projected that it was heading further north (Tampa Bay). However, on Tuesday, things began to shift, and with little time to evacuate they decided to stick to their plan of riding it out. However, at approximately 11:20AM Wednesday morning, their neighborhood began to flood. Within a span of an hour, they had water intruding into their home. This was their sign, so they grabbed their two dogs and the clothes on their back and walked a few blocks in knee-high waters to meet a friend that had a truck and would eventually provide them shelter.

Sadly, the next day, after the flood waters receded, they returned to their home to assess the damage. What they found was devastating. 4-foot, muddy water lines, marked the walls of their home and most of their belongings were destroyed by the water damage. Inevitably, both their cars were also destroyed by the flooding.

Hurricane Ian caused immense devastation across our state, in our own neighborhoods, and to so many of our loved ones. While I know so many are hurting any help will be greatly appreciated and will be used towards helping Amy & Nikki regain a sense of normalcy, after having been stripped of everything.
