Amy Stoner & her kids

Our friend Amy isn’t one to ask for help. She’s incredibly independent. She’s also resilient, kind and strong. She’s one of those people that we all look up to because she’s one of the most compassionate bad asses we know! Amy would drop everything if one of us was ever in need. That’s just the kind of person she is. But right now she’s going through a hard time. To say that she has a lot on her plate would be an understatement. I know she feels the weight of the universe on her shoulders right now. Although initially opposed to allowing us to start a gofundme she eventually agreed. I know this wasn’t easy for her but this is what we do for the people we love. Amy has been in healthcare for 32 years and has worked in alameda county as an EMT for 15 years. She has devoted her life to caring for others. It’s our turn to take care of her.
This was written by Amy:
I am not really good at this but here we go. Due to recent, very personal and stressful events that have occurred I have to take a LOA(leave of absence). Within the past few weeks my children's other mother who cares for my children while I am at work suffered an anaphylaxis response and was intubated. She was in the ICU for 6 days. She has been discharged but has a lengthy recovery due to severe asthma and other major health issues. Before that my oldest son eloped and was missing for 10 minutes. He is nonverbal autistic boy and ran across a very busy street at night. Fortunately a kind man stopped and picked him up and took him to the police station. My children's other mother and I have been coparenting our 3 kids, 2 of which are autistic. Since the recent events along with many other very personal family issues that have occurred in the last couple of months I have been unable to work and need to care for my children. I am the only one who works and I am overwhelmed. I have tried my best to shield my kids from all of the chaos. I am hoping for a reprieve in the emotional bombshells that I keep getting hit with so I can go back to work and continue to care for all of my children. Thank you so much for your support. I’m grateful to each and every one of you.
