You are being contacted on behalf of our friend, Lassane Ouedraogo. You may know that he is a full-time graduate student at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. He will graduate with an Master's degree in Communications at the end of April. This is a great accomplishment and we are proud of his hard work. He has been accepted into the PhD program at Ohio University in the Fall of 2016.
On March 1st Lassane received the news the his father (in Burkina Faso) died. This was not totally unexpected but devastating news none the less. It is a religious requirement that the body be buried as soon as possible after death. So, Lassane was unable to be with his family for this important event. It is also traditional to continue to remember the loved one at 30 day, 60 day and 100 day memorials.
Lassane would very much like to attend the 100 day event in memory of his father (in June). This is where you come in.
As you know, being a full-time student is not a financially lucrative venture. The least expensive round-trip ticket found so far is $2,000.00. We think that if everyone who cares about Lassane contributed a small bit, he would be able to afford to go home for this memorial celebration.
You know Lassane, he is a humble man. He would not ask you to help him although he would not hesitate to help others. He may not ask, but we will (with his permission). Please consider participating in this group effort to support Lassane in this time of grief, to affirm him in his continued studies and acknowledge the principled person that he is.
