Amber's Nursing School Expenses
Sweet friends!
I have an affirmation on my fridge currently. It's sharpied on to the whiteboard and reminds me daily of my challenge. It says: "This is your life. You don't get a do-over. Live it well."
You don't get a do-over. This is it. I want to know that I jumped in and gave my heart to everything in the fullest. At the end of my life I want to know that I challenged myself, I followed my dreams, and I wasn't afraid of change.
I stand before you with great humility. About a year ago at this time, I decided that my heart was being pulled back towards nursing school. Having spent the past two years as a doula, I know that my life calling involves taking care of women as they transition into mothers. I plan to work as a labor and delivery nurse after completing my studies.
I applied to PA College of Health Sciences (LGH) mid-summer. I was approved and enrolled by September. PA College offers an intense, concentrated program that allows students to obtain an ASN in 4-5 semesters.
This will be a huge shift for us, as I have primarily been home with the children ~ but we're keeping the big picture in mind as we sacrifice this time. We have been blessed with an amazing crew of little people helpers (can I call it babysitting if I don't have any babies in the house?). Our little people helpers are dear friends, who currently stay at home with their own children. When you help support ME, you are really supporting THREE young mothers!
The next two years are going to be financially, emotionally, and physically difficult ~ but we are working towards a few things that we hope you'll support!
Friends, I am just about $5,000.00 short of my financial needs for Spring 2016. We did not qualify for an alternative loan to help cover these expenses. This amount is what I need to pay out of pocket to sustain myself and my family while in nursing school.

I have complete peace about finances, knowing that what's meant to happen will happen. When you find your life calling, you don't give up so easily.
I spoke with a representative from PHEAA today. She sounded hopeful that I will be granted an extension since I missed the FAFSA deadline. This means that my monthly payment plan would drop from $488.00 a month to $91.00 a month. ($2,500 owed to $455 owed). This will entirely depend on whether the state passes the budget in enough time.

I've outlined my exact financial needs below, and I hope that you'll consider helping me work towards my goals!
Itemized List of Needs (assuming PHEAA is not granted):
Tuition: $2,500.00 (5, $488.00-ish payments)
Childcare: $2,500.00 +/-
Books+Supplies: $200.00 (buying all used)
Uniform + Shoes: $200.00
Immediate Need
Books + Uniforms due ASAP ($400.00)
1st Payment due in December 15th ($488.00)
Childcare Payment for January ($420.00+/-, 3 weeks)
Secondary Need
2nd Payment due January 15th ($488.00)
Childcare Payment for February ($560.00, 4 weeks)

Any funds that I raise will go towards paying for the balance of $455.00.
If there is any extra beyond that, the money will go directly to childcare expenses, books and supplies, and uniforms.
Any additional monies will be put aside for childcare expenses in the Fall of 2016 and Spring of 2017.
In the case of a larger financial donation, the funds will be applied to reduce my borrowed amount through loans. Each semester is currently just over $10,000 tuition, and while some of this tuition is from grant monies with the possibilities of scholarships, a large portion of this will be borrowed.
