On the Southside of Scranton, there’s a piece of land that could hold the key to a better future for dozens of families. Right now, too many of our neighbors are living in unsafe, overpriced, and energy-draining housing where each winter’s heating bill feels like another eviction notice waiting to happen.

The Afree Foundation has a bold vision: to turn that land into a first-of-its-kind, net-zero affordable housing community (Called Welby Court) powered by solar energy, smart technology, and sustainable design. These homes will not only be truly affordable, but will also cut utility costs to near zero freeing families to focus on education, health, and building a future.
