Charged Giving: COVID Caring Concepts

Hospitals, First Responders, and People Working in Frontline situations need PPE to protect them from infection of the COVID-19 virus. Lack of supply is causing them to have to re-use masks and they are running out of supplies. At Charged Giving, we are using our creative knowledge, paired with our network and volunteers who have stepped forward to build masks and face shields. There are also creator kits that are being developed for volunteers to have easy access to both the materials and instructions to build these masks to then distribute back to healthcare workers on the frontlines. We have teamed up with the Altadena Mask Project (AMP), to support in the cause of providing voluntary PPE to healthcare workers, EMT, EMS, and essential employees of businesses currently operating throughout the COVID-19 pandemic on the east coast of the US.

These are DIY plus. Each piece is hand made by artisans using designs that are being consulted by medical professionals that are guiding what they need. We have some tools that can speed the process such as laser cutting to drastically speed the process. We are currently cutting kits of fabric to produce the masks for a team of volunteer seamstresses and seamsters to assemble and sew. We are also making full face shields. We need to buy material to produce them. Our labor and machines are being provided voluntarily in an attempt to help the medical field fight this virus and save as many lives as possible. We need funds to purchase materials such as fabric, thread, plastic, foam and para-cord. We are also looking for additional volunteers who have sewing machines and some sewing ability to take the kits and sew them. Anything helps. Our goal is to outfit as many people as we can until the big supplies start coming in.

Our team is 100% volunteer based with all donations going toward the materials and the logistics involved to distribute these masks accordingly. They will be distributed to healthcare workers on the first phase in the heaviest hit areas throughout the US and internatuonally, EMT, EMS, and first responders at the local level throughout New England on phase 2, and phase 3 to essential business employees such as grocery stores, pharmacies, and businesses that have high volumes of traffic that will be a necessary environment for their employees to be safe during these conditions.

To make one cloth mask and face shield only takes $4. We ask at the minimum to donate $5, as the majority will go toward the materials, and the $1 more helps in logistics and taking care of our volunteer team such as feeding them while production is in action.
