We are honored to announce that the Junior Reserve Officer Training/Educational Corps from South Plantation High School has been selected to represent the State of Florida in the Commemoration Ceremony in Normandy, France in June 3, 2015. The South Plantation High School’s Corps of Cadets will participate in the annual ceremonial parade and commemorative events surrounding the D-Day invasion over 70 years ago. Out of many teams competing for this honor we were selected after the selection panel acknowledged the intensive dedicated work completed by these students. Our students are hard working students that come from many cultural and financial economic backgrounds. While we are truly honored to be chosen by this panel, this trip will be totally funded by the students and their families. This wonderful historical and educational trip of a lifetime will cost a total of $80,000 to cover their entire travel expenses. We are hoping to raise these monies by conducting fundraisers. We are asking every ones help in raising these funds to help these wonderful talented students to get the chance to represent the State of Florida in this life changing experience of a lifetime. Most of our students are urban area students who have not traveled outside of their community, this trip will not only reward them for their hard work in the Cadet program but also for keeping the high educational goals required mandated to remain in the program. A trip of this magnitude will teach them so much about our countries history and how our world had been changed because of this history. For many of these students it will be the first time in their lives where they will travel to a different country and experience the countries culture. A trip that will change their lives forever! Help us give them hope of achieving their dreams of this life changing experience by donating to our cause. We want them to realize that because they worked so hard and stood so proud they were awarded an honor many students dream of.
