Build a hospital in Malawi, Africa

The Malawi Project Inc is trying to raise money to build a hospital in Malawi, Africa. The hospital will serve the villagers near Lintipi, in the mountains just south of Dedza. They travel almost exclusively on foot. In a medical emergency their only hope is to reach the district hospital in Dedza – 20 miles away. .In this area the village people are among the poorest in Malawi, and almost no one has a motorized vehicle to reach the district hospital. A long, winding, pothole filled, road winds through the foothills, offering the only access to the main road, and the nearest hospital. The only transportation is the bed of an ox-cart, back of a bicycle, or by walking. For women about to deliver, and for those suffering serious injuries, the distance is just too great. There is a great need to build another hospital closer to the population that needs healthcare services. The village chiefs decided that they would supply the bricks and build a road to the facility. All government paperwork has been completed and approved, surveys have been completed, the Dzidalire Community Development Agency is in place to oversee and manage the facility, the supplies and equipment have already been shipped and received, and the village people have hand-made 100,000 bricks and a road up the mountain to the site, as well as planting thousands of tree seedlings to reforest the area around the medical facility. Much of the work is accomplished but contributions are needed for us to begin construction of the Hospital and Birthing Center.
