Amin's Recovery Support

On the morning of Wednesday, November 17, our dear Amin Abbasi was shot in a senseless, random act of violence that critically injured him, and has left his family and friends shaken to their core.

 

We’re so grateful that neither his brain nor his spinal cord was injured, however, his injuries are severe, and his recovery will be long and painful. Amin has undergone multiple surgeries and has many more to go.

 

 

 

To those who know them, Sonia and Amin are exceptional individuals—kind, loving, peaceful, and fun-loving. Amin is an internationally-known and well-respected rock climbing route setter. He immigrated to the US in 2017 to be with Sonia. Since then they have called Houston home.

 

The next several months are going to be difficult. In addition to Amin’s recovery, his beloved wife Sonia lives with Multiple Sclerosis and is expecting their second child in February. Sonia, Amin, their 2-year old son Milan, and the new baby will all need care and support from their community through this time. We, as their community, want to support them. Amin is a person who shows everyone he meets how to live with joy, good spirit, and kindness.

 

We want to help Amin regain his superpower and be able to advocate for a city without violence.

For interested donors: In order to create a GoFundMe, we needed to choose a starting goal number. We feel Amin will need much more support than this, but we are hoping this will be a start. In the coming months, the family will need to pay for medical insurance, hospital bills for Amin, hospital bills for Sonia and their new baby, medical bills related to Sonia's Multiple Sclerosis, Milan's daycare costs, groceries, heat and utilities, mortgage, and legal fees related to this horrible crime.
