Sisters Confianza and Alegria of the Amigas del Señor monastery in Honduras have allowed me to help raise money to pay for a perimeter fence around the property. The fence is essential for the operation of a permaculture project that will help feed local children in poverty and help protect the Sisters & their food from intruders and thieves.
The current chainlink perimeter fence around the property where they live has deteriorated, as you can see. Thieves and intruders have repeatedly entered, putting residents, their possessions, grown produce, and property at risk. As Sister Confianza says, "I trust in God for my true safety, which may not have anything to do with what happens to me physically.” Nonetheless, I feel concern for their physical and emotional safety and would like to help secure money for fencing that would help protect them, another single woman living on the property, and the food they work so hard to raise. The monastery has experienced repeated theft of ripening fruit, chickens and other food from the property, as the fencing around the land is in such disrepair. In fact, the theft is so frequent that they have decided to curb their egg and chicken production for the time being.
