Black Lives Matter NYC - America On Trial

We are a group of organizers of the Black Lives Matter movement which starts out of Manhattan, Harlem, The Bronx, Queens, and Brooklyn almost daily. The group officially has no name for the security of the organizers involved. We have been marching for 180 days. We are highly organized and highly disruptive. We engage in civil disobedience and disruption tactics to bring awareness to the injustices that the Black and oppressed communities face.

We are fighting to dismantle the white power structure of this city: the New York Police Department. We demand the defunding of the $6 billion from the NYPD and for that money to be reinvested in our communities. The police only react to problems but do not prevent or solve them. We will fix the problems from the root by providing resources to the resourceless. Providing resources and decriminalizing survival is the only way to prevent crime.

The safety of the protesters in this movement is our top priority. Everything we do is built on daily experience from each day that passes. Our organization’s efforts also include community street cleanups and food pantries. Our community has shown that when we come together, there is nothing we cannot accomplish. We do not need to rely on the corrupt system to take care of ourselves.
