America Cortez Funeral

Hi everyone just want to start of with thanking you for taking the time to read this. I was really skeptical at first about starting this go fund me.  I just feel like these  kind of situations are sensitive and to let this out takes a little bit of courage.  I am trying to raise money for  my MY MOMS funeral which is costing around $14,300 family members and myself have came up with about $7,300. I’m hoping using this will help us reach our goal.  Back in 2016 America Cortez was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, she went to chemotherapy for 6 months  and got surgery  and it looked to be over then and there for the cancer. A year passed by (wasn’t going to the doctor anymore) she started to develop this excruciating pain in her leg. After going to a few doctor visits they then diagnosed her with sarcoma wich is two really aggressive cancers fused into one and it was located right on the nerves of her leg, but now it was too late. She didn’t qualify as being a chemo patient anymore because her body was too weak. There was only hopes that her body would recover and we would be able to start chemo for her. As she stayed in the hospital from  08/26/18-10/13/18 she was declining more and more which definitely made her not a candidate for chemo.  The sarcoma ended up taking over and my mom passed away on 10/13/18. She was only 65 yers old.  I would also hope this brings awareness to a lot of families to make sure to always go to the doctor for regular check ups. My mom thought the pain she had was sciatic nerve pain so she was taking pain meds eventually the pain got so bad.  That’s when she decided to go to the hospital, but it was to late at that point. I know for a lot of parents like mine they don’t like to go to the doctor regularly (they were born in the 50’s), but it is so important to be there for them and let them know to go for a check up.  Thank you to all the support and I really appreciate anything.
