Amelia Needs Urgent Brain Surgery

PLEASE HELP US STOP AMELIA'S SUFFERING .

Amelia is my daughter who is only 15 years of age and is in URGENT need of life changing brain surgery.

We DESPERATELY need your  help!

Amelia has been diagnosed with a Rare Symptomatic Pineal Lesion / Cyst 12mm x 10mm x 11mm  located in the geographical centre of her brain, which requires life saving, risky, complicated, dangerous and very expensive brain surgery to remove a Rare Symptomatic Pineal Lesion/Cyst that is causing Amelia 27 different PROBLEM symptoms.

It is destroying her quality of life, it’s debilitating, extremely painful, causing vision problems, nausea, loss of appetite, vomiting, dizziness, pain down her neck, causes her head to get hot requiring constant cold packs even during days when the weather is very cold.

Amelia spends a great deal of her life restricted to her bed, in a darken quiet room suffering, and at times she is too scared to move as she is worried that the unbearable pain will increase ......

What sort of life does Amelia have ????

Most of the time in bed with extreme pain and fears that she won’t make it to surgery.

Amelia’s head is wrapped with an ice pack to reduce the heat this dangerous Rare Symptomatic Pineal Lesion/Cyst is causing.

This is also referred to by some as a type of tumor.

No one should have to live like this.   Amelia lives  like a prisoner in solitary confinement.

Surgery is the only definitive treatment

After numerous trips to the Women's and Children's hospital from Burra, Amelia was finally referred to  internationally acclaimed Neurosurgeon Professor  Charles Teo in Sydney.

During the consultation Professor Teo showed us via Amelia’s MRI’s that the large Pineal Lesion / Cyst has caused compression on her brain and is restricting the CSF (Cerebrospinal fluid).  Blockage like Amelia has can cause fluid on the brain, 24/7 pressure headaches, nausea, vomiting, loss of memory, no sleep as she may not be producing melatonin just to name a few symptoms. The compression and restriction in her brain is responsible for her symptoms and poor quality of life which can cause further life threatening symptoms.

Professor Charles Teo has successfully completed over 100 of these complicated and risky surgeries.

Despite the surgery risks,  Amelia is desperate to relieve her debilitating pressure headaches and constant pain.

Whilst the growth rate of this legion and consequences are unknown,  Amelia's greatest fears are how soon and what unrepairable damage this will cause.

Please help Amelia's hopes and aspirations return to her.

Amelia's greatest nightmare is that she has no future.

We live in a rural town in the Mid North of South Australia.

Many people that know Amelia are also extremely concerned by the way she has changed from a friendly, caring, happy girl that does her best and achieves at school, to a child that struggles to concentrate on her school work, lift her head, talk to people but still pushes herself to get to school for a few hours a day, before she falls too far behind in class work and before the unbearable pain strikes and forces her to be taken home as she can not cope.

Please help Amelia return to the person she was and help her dreams, aspirations and career choice come true.

For two years, Amelia has been suffering from extreme headaches that cause vomiting, nausea, dizziness, blurred vision, short term memory loss, trouble processing things, extreme pain behind her eyes. There are many more.

She struggles to attend school each day and spends most of her time in bed. This  is heart breaking for me to see my daughter housebound due to so much pain and unable to function as a normal teenager should.

Please help my daughter save her life, get her quality of life back so that her hopes and dreams of becoming a normal teenager come true.

The cost of the surgery is approximately $100,000 .00 which must be paid in advance prior to surgery.

This unfortunately does not include costs for high dependency care during Amelia's recuperation stage, nor does it include air travel and accommodation etc, to the Prince of Wales Hospital, Barker St. Randwick, NSW, Australia. (Sydney)

Amelia is still being monitored at Women and Childrens Hospital in Adelaide SA and we still have on going medical costs for travel  from Burra which is 200 kms to the Women's & Children's hospital for appointments, tests and medication.

Our household budget is greatly strained with added costs of the consistent trips required from Burra S.A. to the many medical appointments in Adelaide. Traveling over 400kms a round trip which can take up to up to four and a half hours, minmum.

Surgery costs are extremely expensive, $100,000 is the minimum payment required prior to surgery, but is only an approximate figure provided to us in writing by Professor Teo's office.

We hope and pray that your understanding of the pain my whole family is suffering watching and listening to our beautiful child suffering so much continuously is heart breaking, we are emotionally devastated.

We need gracious, loving, compassionate and caring people, that will help us together, fight this battle of life for Amelia.

Your generous and extremely important donations will help us succeed.

EVERY DONATION COUNTS

I know this is an EXTREMELY BIG REQUEST that I can never repay to those who will donate towards our daughter’s surgery costs, but I can keep people posted on Amelia's surgery, recovery and DEFINITE recovery to good health.

ON BEHALF OF AMELIA AND MY WHOLE FAMILY, WE WOULD LIKE TO EXPRESS OUR SINCEREST GRATITUDE, LOVE, BLESSINGS FROM THE BOTTOM OF HEARTS TO NOT STRANGERS BUT A SPECIAL FAMILY OF FRIENDS THAT ARE GIVING AMELIA LIFE AGAIN.

We hope and pray that your kindness and generosity is repaid to you a 100 fold and also pray for good health and happiness for you and all your love ones.

I would be more than happy to share more details about Amelia’s diagnosis (medical reports, images etc).

Professor Charles Teo's publication in the Journal of Neurosurgery states in part, "The greatest fear from this publication is that neurosurgeons inexperienced in surgery for pineal lesions will offer surgery to desperate patients with devastating outcomes.
*** Complications from surgery in this region are typically very severe. They include death, short-term memory loss, paralysis, sensory disturbance, temporary and permanent eye movement paralysis, coma etc. etc.***

Please feel free to contact me or my Uncle Paul Kitsi who is part of my family and support team.
