Amelia's D.A.D.

Recently diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, our sweet three year old is having a hard time keeping her blood sugar stable. Because of her age and her fast growth rate, we are frequently faced with lows and highs that are dangerous and scary for us! A Diabetic Alert Dog (D.A.D.) will give us some peace of mind and comfort. As her constant companion, this service dog's early detection allows her parents to take the proper steps to return their blood sugar to a normal healthy range. Every diabetic should have the added protection of a Diabetic Alert Dog, and we will work hard to fund raise and provide one for Amelia. 
Lucky for us, the family owns a black lab puppy that we hope will pass the evaluation for training.  Amelia and Sadie are already fast friends and have a tight bond and are inseparable. The cost of training our dog is approximately $12,500. If she does not pass the evaluation, the association (Diabetic Alert Dogs of America) will purchase a dog for her at the starting cost of $15,000. The family will have to travel several times over the next 6 months to Las Vegas for evaluation and training.
