Greetings & salutations,

 

AVB wishes that you share and consider donating to our program. As head coach and director, it is with great humbleness our youth and I have decided to start this fundraiser. We are a grassroots non-profit organization that is steadily climbing up the ladder to establish a long-term location that is safe, reliable and welcoming to all of our community. Our vision is to have a full-scale boxing gym for our neighborhood consisting of mostly farmworker families. We are in tough times. However, that has never stopped people like you and us to fight on. This program has been funded mainly by parents, siblings, ourselves, and the amazing fire the youth gives that never ceases to inspire us. We have aspiring fighters waiting to raise their fist as Champions inside and out of the ring. As a USA Boxing licensed coach and a USA Boxing Club, we look forward to the future when this program will fully fund itself and give back to Greenfield and its neighbors. For now, we ask for contributions to continue striving for our community's betterment.

Mission Statement

A.V.I.L.A Victory Boxing's primary purpose is to build, promote, and nurture a positive outlook through physical training programs for all youth and adults. Through the art of boxing, we shape body and mind through techniques designed to focus on self-discipline, commitment, and resilience. Our programs center on creating and enhancing character-building and life-long skills by fostering team unity, collaboration, and motivation to contribute to our community. A.V.I.L.A represents Ambition, Valor, Integrity, Loyalty, and Achievement. AVB believes that with these five virtues anyone will be able to accomplish, succeed and be resilient.

 

Community Need

The southern region of Monterey County (SMC) has statistically been an under-resourced area consisting of farm-working, low-income, immigrant communities of Hispanic descent. Studies have shown that socioeconomic disadvantages and lack of recreational programs may entice more at-risk youth, resulting in poor social relationships and poor participation in programs that provide a sense of belonging, discipline, and healthy relationships. Therefore, AVB’s mission is to provide a space to nurture these critical character development skills.

 

Background History

The founder of AVB has borne witness to these struggles as a Greenfield native who has endured challenges caused by a lack of resources, including community engagement, educational/training programs, mentoring programs in schools/communities, etc. Growing up in South County, he is familiar with the negative stereotype associated with his community, mainly gang violence and poverty. However, AVB was created in hopes of changing this. Instead, creating a positive narrative of South County and providing resources contributing to support the community he grew up in and belongs to.

 

Your Contribution

Funding would support our boxing outreach program, currently serving approximately 50+ youth per month. The program is currently seeking a permanent building location as it is presently operating out of a garage for the last five years. Funds will also help sponsor events, boxing equipment (punching bags, gloves, hand-wraps, boxing ring, rent etc.), and future amateur fighters.

 

Community Impact
AVB’s overall mission is to help children and youth meet their full potential by receiving quality 1:1 coaching, an opportunity for growth, and building meaningful peer relationships with individuals with the same goals and interests. AVB will be hosting free boxing training throughout the year to continue to reach out to the community. Any donation will help make an impact.
