I'm turning 40 and want to dedicate this next decade of my life to smashing the patriarchy. Because I'm an adult now and can make these sorts of decisions.
I've chosen a handful of my favorite organizations, and I'm asking you to give generously to support them. All funds will be distributed evenly between these nonprofits, so that they can continue their important work!
1. Equality Texas -- Texas' #1 LGTBQ lobbying and advocacy group. They helped organize us across the state to defeat the bathroom bills and without their leadership, materials, and passion, I'm not sure we could have won. Without a doubt, they saved my son's life, and for that reason, they are one of my absolute favorite nonprofits. FOREVER.
2. League of Women Voters of Texas -- LWV-TX is fighting for your equal access to the polls (no small feat in Texas!). 2018 is an important year for elections, and if we want to see equality for all, then we need organizations like the League to make sure that ALL voices are counted at the polls. Vote the bullies out! The League of Women Voters is here to help us do just that.
3. Denton Unitarian Universalist Fellowship -- DUUF provides a safe and welcoming space for so many marginalized people, including most especially the LGBTQ youth in our community . As a small church, their funds are often limited, but the need for outreach and support is greater than ever.
All the money raised will be split evenly among these 3 amazing organizations and will help build a better tomorrow for Max, Lulu, and the entire state of Texas! Please give as much as you can and consider this your birthday present to me! Thanks, y'all!
