Ambers Leukaemia journey

Donation protected
Acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) is a type of cancer that affects the blood and bone marrow.
As some of you may know back in 2016 Amber (23) was suddenly diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia, after a few months in hospital and multipul rounds of chemo she achieved remission WOOHOO Well so we thought.. along came 2020 and we got the news she had relapsed so in June/July Amber now only 27 years young was back in for chemotherapy again, unfortunately the chemo wasn't enough and we now need to do the bone marrow transplant. Which she was hospital for  4th of September 2020. With the chemo not successfully working to kill all her cancer cells it left us in a tough position. Finding and getting the doner cells has been a hard road with a few not being able to go ahead, we finally got an anonymous overseas doner which is amazing news. Unfortunately it doesn't stop there, there are risks involved in the process itself and because Amber's blast cells were much higher then doctors would have liked that means her chances of relapse again are dramatically increased. Those of you who know Amber know she's is one of the most loving, selfless, caring and compassionate people you could meet, Always putting others first even if shes the one who needs the help the most. Amber deserves the world and ultimately id like to be able help do that, i know money has been tight with her partner just being on a carers payment for her and herself unable to work and being on newstart. The bone marrow transplant process means both Amber and her partner will be out of work for at least 1 year+ for recovery and caring duties With covid-19 around and being severely immune compromised we are hoping to raise enough money to support amber in the way she needs with assistance in transportation and medical supplies. We are so lucky to be in Australia to have such great medical support to be able to find and treat ambers condition without incurring the financial expense of the treatment, however there are many expenses that build up throughout that time whilst being only on Newstart payments. The main thing she is desperately in need of especially after the transplant are:
1) to be able to afford the fuel and parking costs for multiple visits to the hospital which is roughly a 2hour round trip.
(Because of my age the amount of funding and help I can get has already been reached a few months ago) hence why asking for help
2) assistance with the medical side of things, there are ALOT of medications that are needed after Amber leaves hospital and they aren't cheap, and even things like a shower chair for when she doesn't have the strength on her own and has to rest while doing a simple task. Neither Amber or her partner are greedy people and have always settled with just getting by but with her chance of relapse being so high they deserve a bit of comfort and stability. If Amber does relapse after the transplant there isn't alot more that can be done apart from chemo time and time again until she can't take it anymore which we hope it never comes to that. So even if you can spare just $5 to try help take some of the stress away from the expenses it would be such a help. Thank you for taking the time to read!
