Amber's Atlantis Fellowship fund

Donation protected
Hello! My name is Amber, I am 19 years old and a junior at Stockton University studying to become a doctor. I chose Stockton because it was a realistic option considering my situation. My mother has been raising my sister and I alone for most of our lives, my father has a drug addiction and my mother carries the financial burden all on her own. Because of that lack of funds, I have had to turn down some amazing opportunities. I am a diligent student, I take my work very seriously and when I am not at school I am working to try to pay for books, gas, food, etc. This also means that I have not had the time to do what I would really like to be doing, which is volunteering and learning. The Atlantis Project is an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, not to mention the process of applying is selective, and I was lucky enough to be accepted to participate in this springs upcoming fellowship program! Unfortunately, despite the endless work and time I try to put in, I don’t have enough money to fund this trip. The Atlantis Project pairs pre-health students with doctors in hospitals across the world in order to help students like me understand their place in the medical field and get first-hand experience shadowing physicians. As you may know, getting serious shadowing experience here in the States is both extremely competitive and rigorously regulated. Yet, pre-med students are all but required to have shadowing experiences, along with unique extracurricular pursuits, to get accepted into medical school. The Atlantis Project satisfies both needs. I will get the opportunity with the program to: shadow international physicians, rotate weekly through a variety of specialties for 20 hours a week, go on group excursions to experience my host country’s culture, and volunteer to help tutor English to hospital staff. This March a group of fellow accepted students and myself will be traveling to Toledo, Spain. This is very important to me but in order to go, I need to raise $3000. This will cover the cost of the program fees as well as the flight to get to Spain. I know it is a lot to ask, but any amount of help is so appreciated! I go to school Monday through Friday and work Friday through Sunday to try to fund my education and it would mean so much to me to be able to have such an exceptional experience! I can assure you any donation made is a full investment. Anything I learn I hope to someway give that back, and with the knowledge and connections I make through this program I hope to truly help make this crazy world we live in a happier, healthier, more humane place to live, so please help me in making my dreams come true!
