Dakoda and Amber Winsor are some of our closest friends. We have been through many of life’s major milestones together and we love them dearly. The Winsors have been on a three year journey with infertility. They were married in 2012 but waited to start trying for a family until both had graduated from college. In 2015, soon after graduation, they began trying to conceive. Two years of negative pregnancy tests led the couple to see a fertility doctor. After another year of seeing specialists and undergoing further testing, Amber and Dakoda were told they would be good candidates for IVF. However, they knew they could not afford such treatments and procedures. Their doctor informed them of a foundation, the KAIROS Fertility Foundation, who gives couples like the Winsors the opportunity to receive IVF. He submitted their names to the foundation and the Winsors applied. Although it was a long shot, Amber and Dakoda held on to hope that they would be selected by the KAIROS foundation and receive the financial help they needed to start their family. On March 26, the Winsors were selected by the foundation!
Although the foundation will be funding most of the IVF procedure, Amber and Dakoda will still need to pay around $2,000 for the program, plus medication and anesthesia which, unfortunately, are not covered in any way by their insurance, and add another $5,000 to their cost, totaling their need at $7,000. Amber and Dakoda are two of the kindest, most patient, and genuine people you could ever meet. As couple after couple announced their pregnancies, Amber and Dakoda were nothing but genuinely happy that others would be starting or adding to their own families. They believe that family is the most important part of life and have wanted children for their entire relationship. Amber has wanted to be a mother above anything else since she was a little girl and graduated with a degree in Family and Child Development. She has nannied for several families with children of all ages and worked with young children with autism as a behavioral therapist in the school system. She currently runs a small at home day care and also teaches English online to children in China. Dakoda has coached gymnastics to kids of all ages, taught children in church settings, and currently coaches college athletes full-time. There is not another couple more deserving of this opportunity than the Winsors. Any financial support toward this process is deeply appreciated.
