Amber Smith Needs Surgery - A Lipedema Story

The love of my life - Amber Smith - is suffering from a condition called Lipedema. Lipedema is a genetic disease of the connective tissues, it causes chronic pain and significantly decreased functioning. The long term complications from this disease include arthritis, diabetes, lymphedema and increasing immobilization. It breaks my heart that, at 22 years old, Amber is suffering from something like this, especially when there is a treatment. If Amber secures treatment now she has a very good likelihood of being cured due to her youth.
Big surprise, insurance is NOT HELPING. They basically refuse to cover the surgeries that she needs, by making it impossible to get treated by an expert in the field. I watched her today get a call from insurance saying that a dermatologist was qualified to surgically operate on her. Just outrageous.
The treatment Amber needs amounts to 3 procedures totaling just under $50,000. This money will enable her to focus on the thing a 22 year old should be doing... graduating from college, going to grad school, starting her career, developing life long friendships.
She desperately needs these surgeries. I want to find a way to help, and this is what I have come to. She is the strongest and most resilient individual I have ever met. She is loving, intelligent, and above all else - funny. She pours her all into those around her, and all I want is for her to feel that love poured back. This is for you my beautiful friend.
She also has this small Chihuahua/Terrier mix that's super cute and sweet, and I bet she'd like for her mama to get help too. The walks with her would be nice :)
