Amber & Ava Fund

Dear Friends,

I am raising money on behalf of my daughter Amber, who is a single mother of a beautiful 2 year old little girl named Ava. Amber has a life threatening disease called Systemic Scleroderma (SSc) which is an autoimmune disorder. This disease affects the skin (Raynaud's phenomenom) , joints, muscles, organs and many other parts of the body. With this disease, she has developed Interstitial Lung Disease  (ILD) which is one of the main causes of death in SSc, accounting for 33% of deaths.

Amber sees 2-3 specialists each week. She has been on oxygen for several months to help her lungs get the air they need. She takes 9 different prescriptions each day (some more than once) and is on chemotherapy. Finding a doctor that treats this disease and that will accept her insurance has been challenging.  In two weeks we will travel to a clinic in Houston that specializes in this disease. Since this disease is debilitating, Amber is unable to work.

My heart is broken for my young daughter and for my beautiful grandchild.  I cannot imagine how I will live without her one day and how I will impress upon Ava how much her mother loved her.

I've set a hefty goal because there is certain to be unforeseen expenses that will arise. Whether I meet the goal or not, your contribution will be appreciated beyond words.
