Help Dalyn Become an Ambassador of Music
Dalyn has been nominated by his band director to perform in the Kentucky Ambassadors of Music concert tour of Europe during the summer of 2018!
Who is Dalyn
Dalyn is a 16 year-old junior, honors student at Eastern High School with a passion for music and a love of performance. He plays clarinet is in the marching band and is currently 2nd chair in the concert band.
What is Kentucky Ambassadors of Music
The Kentucky Ambassadors of Music are a select group of honor band, orchestra and choir students chosen through nomination.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure where for sixteen days Dalyn will have the opportunity to perform in a variety of remarkable European cities and villages in seven European countries including: England, France, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria, Italy, and Germany.
This program will allow Dalyn to become acquainted with the ideas and attitudes of other peoples of the world and broaden his understanding of world culture. Additionally, he will have the opportunity to enjoy the special thrill that comes with performing before a variety of European audiences.
In addition to the wonderful opportunity this trip provides, Dalyn will also be able to earn college credit for his participation.
When is it
June 25, 2018 - June 29, 2018 - Rehearsal Camp at University of Louisville
June 29, 2018 - Bon Voyage Concert for friends and family at University of Louisville
June 30, 2018 - July 15, 2018 - European Tour
Trip Expenses
Included in the cost of the trip is his uniform, one week at rehearsal camp held at the University of Louisville, all European concert arrangements, airfare from Cincinnati to London, and return fare from Frankfurt back to Cincinnati, hotel accommodations, two meals a day, sight seeing and necessary entrance fees per Ambassador itinerary, motor coach transportation, drivers expenses, English speaking guides, travel insurance, chaperonage, and City Coordinators.
We are also asking for an additional $500 to help pay for incidentals such as lunch each day (as previously stated two meals, breakfast and dinner, are provided), snacks, and souvenirs.
Itinerary
Day 1: Travel from Cincinnati to London
Day 2: Arrive in London, visit Windsor Castle, historic Eton College, and River Thames
Day 3: Sightseeing - St. Paul’s Cathedral, Tower of London and the Crown Jewels, Buckingham Palace, Westminster, Piccadilly Circus
Day 4: Wesley’s Chapel where the choir will sing. Then the Ambassadors will perform their first concert in a borough just outside of Central London.
Day 5: Travel from London to Paris via the Cliffs of Dover and a ferry crossing of the English Channel
Day 6: Visit the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame Cathedral followed by their second European concert, this time for for their French audience and an evening ride on the River Seine.
Day 7: Sightseeing - Montmartre, Sacre Coeur, Louvre Museum, Champs Elysees
Day 8: Travel from Paris to Switzerland seeing Lake Geneva, Lausanne, Montreux and the Rhone River along the way.
Day 9: Visit Castle of Chillon and perform third concert in the in the Village of Crans-Montana.
Day 10: Visit the Matterhorn
Day 11: Travel from Switzerland to Liechtenstein for a brief stop then on to Austria
Day 12: Sightseeing - Including a rococo church and a visit to Innsbrook to see Golden Roof then back to Seefeld for their fourth concert.
Day 13: Travel to Venice. Sightseeing - St. Marks Square, Palace of the Duomos, Bridge of Sighs, Rialto Bridge, and glass blowing factory then back to Austria
Day 14: Travel from Austria to Germany and visit to Dachau then on to Rothenburg
Day 15: Final concert
Day 16: Travel from Frankfurt to Cincinnati
