The Goal: To raise $5,000 by January 29th to embark on my dream trip "Amazonian Immersion with the Achuar and Sapara".

The Backstory:
When I was 10 years old I picked up and devoured the book "Mutant Message Down Under" by Marlo Morgan. The story is about a woman who goes to Australia and is accepted by an Aboriginal tribe for a four month walkabout. This began my passion for understanding indigenous cultures living closely with the Earth, pursuing a career in Archaeology, and finally starting a company that teaches ancestral living skills.
It has been my dream since I was a child to have the opportunity to visit and connect with indigenous cultures of our world. Now that dream is nearly a reality.
The Opportunity:
In the company of my sister, Caitlin, I will embark on a life changing odyssey. Through the Pachamama Alliance, I will participate in a journey entitled "Amazonian Immersian with the Achuar and Sápara" for 12 days in Ecuador. The Pachamama Alliance offers people the chance to learn, connect, engage, travel and cherish life for the purpose of creating a sustainable future that works for all. The Achuar and Sápara are two indigenous tribes of Ecuador that are fighting for their human rights and their very right to exist. In order to ensure their future they invite people of the modern world to come and learn about their culture and their plight so that we may be their voice in the outside world. These trips are a two way cultural interchange. The Achuar and Sápara will be learning from me about my culture. In exchange, they will be sharing their culture with me.
During this trip I will be experiencing and learning a whole new collection of skills that can not be learned any other way. The Achuar and Sápara will be sharing knowledge and cultural wisdom as I learn basketry, ceramics, native plant medicine, chants, rituals, and more. Many of these skills I will be able to bring home and share with the instructors of Whole Earth Nature School so that they can be passed on to a new generation.
Finally, this trip will be a link to my Vision Quest I completed four years ago where I received wisdom of my life's Vision and furthered my spiritual path. Much of my interactions with these cultures will be working with Shamans and Medicine People to continue my own personal growth and path as a healer. Together with my sister, we are excited to have a shared experience that will bring us even closer together.

Trip facilitation cost: $3,695
Includes: motels, transportation, meals, local guides, and compensation for local teachers, healers, etc.
Airfare: $500-$850
Airfares are unpredictable. I may have the opportunity to access a special discounted fare through a family connection.
Other Items:
Shamanic Ceremony facilitation and lodging: $130
Gratuities for local guides: $150
Purchases from local craftspeople to support their families: $100
Miscellaneous/Unplanned Expenses: $75
