Update from Amayah' Parents:
We would like to thank you for all your love and support during this critical time in our lives. Your generosity and outpouring of help has been truly humbling. Amayah has already started to benefit from all your support - her medical alert bracelet is on its way, we are buying her senior kindergarten class hand hygiene course material and all additional medical costs are deferred to her fund now. Next steps are to enroll her in a ballet plus swim class in the weeks ahead to further build her overall endurance and strength.

Hope is what Gavin and Nel survived on when they had their baby girl, Amayah Hope Lobo on June 8, 2009. Today, 5 years and 3 surgeries later, we are all amazed at the strength and resilience of this family. Amayah is a happy, funny and bubbly little girl born with a congenital heart defect called HLHS. Over the years, her parents have been by her side through all the ups and downs, laughter and tears, always staying positive and living every day to its fullest.

On July 27th, 2014, Amayah received the gift of a new heart, giving her renewed hope to flourish in the years ahead. Nel and Gavin are extremely thankful and ask that you keep the donor family in your thoughts and prayers as well.

Amayah's intial recovery period has been positive but she now embarks on a difficult but brave journey to regain her strength and stay healthy so she can continue to sing her favorite songs, make silly jokes and play with her friends and family. Her heart transplant healing process is going to be a lifelong journey; one that may include several medical hurdles which are unknown at this time but all of which her parents have to fight with her. A huge aspect of this process will be the costs associated with it and we, their family and friends, want to make sure they can focus on their baby girl, instead of worrying about finances. So we all have come together to create a transplant fund to support them through this new life journey.

We estimate that Amayah's transplant recovery will cost approximately $10,000 to $15,000 in the first year alone. Your giving would go toward supporting the following lifelong expenses.

Travel Expenses for Hospital Visits and Longer Stays
-Monthly parking pass at the hospital
-Hospital meals while at appointments
-Technology to distract when getting bloodwork done
-Car related expenses
-Other travel expenses

On-going Medical Expenses
-Medical supplies
-G-tube feeding bags
-High-cal nutritional support
-Home care
-Physiotherapist (private)
-Medication coverage over and above private coverage
-Medical alert bracelet and subscription

Your thoughts, prayers and warm wishes, especially over the recent weeks, are much appreciated. Nel and Gavin really thrive on your positivity and encouraging messages, so keep them coming.

We thank you in advance for your monetary support,
