Amanda's stem cell treatment

Donation protected

It's called the Hell and Suicide Disease. And there is no cure. Yet.

Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), formerly known as Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy, is a progressive disease of the nervous system. Symptoms include chronic severe pain and inflammation; muscle and blood vessel spasms; and allodynia, i.e. extreme sensitivity to touch, sound, vibration, temperature and more.

CRPS also affects the limbic system of the brain and can cause insomnia, short-term memory loss, confusion, depression and suicidal thoughts. The McGill Pain Index ranks CRPS as the most painful form of chronic pain that exists today.

My friend Amanda contracted the disease three years ago after getting a staph infection in her spine during disc surgery. Since then her life has changed dramatically. She is on complete disability at age 37 due to constant pain and immobility. Amanda's two children, 10 and 3, are being raised by her husband and parents. The only treatment available for this little-known disease is palliative/pain management.

But there is hope. Experimental stem-cell treatment is now being tested on patients with chronic nervous system conditions like Multiple Sclerosis, with surprising success. One facility, PRX Healthcare Restoration Centers in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, has agreed to try the treatment on Amanda. She will be the very first CRPS patient to be given this cutting-edge procedure.

Please consider helping out my dear friend. Her family and friends are hoping for a miracle. Thank you.
