Amanda's Standing Wheelchair

Amanda Arreola is a single mom, model and trained makeup artist/hairstylist who suffered a spinal injury when her vehicle was T-boned by a teen driver who blew a red light 4 years ago.  She is now confined to a wheelchair, but is attempting to return to hairstyling. Unfortunately, her sitting wheelchair won't allow her to do styling with clients in typical chairs. Here's a video that illustrates a standing wheelchair. This is not Amanda.

 

 

Standing wheelchairs seem to vary in prices from about $8,000 up to about $35,000.

 

Although Amanda did receive a settlement from the driver's insurance company, her present insurance will not cover the cost of a standing wheelchair. Reportedly, they will pay to have a vehicle modified for her disability, but not until she has a job, for which she needs the wheelchair.

 

So the goal of this effort is to raise money to partially or completely subsidize the cost of a standing wheelchair for Amanda. I'm also creating a Facebook group (Team Amanda DFW) which will provide additional and updated information. With the holidays coming up, I'm not sure what date goal we will use, but I think with everyone's support, we should be able to accomplish this by April 30, 2022.

I'm not very good at this, so I set up an account in my name to manage, but until I figure out how to change it, it will show me as the recipient.  Wrong.  It will all go to Amanda.  Also, be advised that GFM gets a cut of your donation, in addition to anything you may tip them.  They get 2.9% of your donation plus 30 cents.
