Leukemia took over my life again! I relapsed and spent another month in the hospital enduring more chemotherapy. Now, the only alternative to permanently end this disease is Bone Marrow Transplant. In August, I will be moving to Rochester for 100 days of treatment and clinic visits. Chris, or other family, will need to be with me 24/7 as most of this time is considered out-patient.
Again, most of the treatment will be covered by insurance. The Mayo also provides on site lodging. What isn't covered are additional expenses while away from home. Chris will need to take some unpaid leave, and I am not sure when I will be able to go back to work.
We are extraordinarily fortunate to have such a support care network with so many family and friends that have been close to us for this entire ordeal. Leaving the Twin Cities for this next stage in recovery will be more difficult than ever, and I appreciate all of your love and support.
