Hearing the word cancer is one of the scariest things to experience, even with the medical advances we have today. I need to fight this, I have a daughter and husband who need me, what will my treatment be, when will it start, how will I afford to be off work, how sick will I be... the list of questions racing through a person's mind goes on and on. This is my older sister Amanda's reality.
Amanda was diagnosed with stage 3 cervical cancer. She just turned 34 years old, has a daughter who just started kindergarten, and a husband of a little over a year. Amanda and Juan are newlyweds and already facing 'in sickness and in health'. Amanda will have radiation five days a week with a day of chemo as well. They had plans of expanding their family that may be unattainable now as Amanda's radiation treatments will leave her infertile. So on top of worrying about how to continue to pay for her insurance while she is off work, pay all of her medical bills, afford the many medications she will need, and gas to get to her daily treatments, they are now faced with the enormous cost of embryo freezing in hopes of having a baby together one day in the future when she beats this horrible disease.
If I could do one thing for my sister on her journey to health, it would be to eliminate any extra stresses she may have so we can go into this fight with everything we've got. This is why I am coming to you and asking for help. Please help me lift my sister's financial burden in her time of desperate need.
