Medical Fund for Large Tumor Surgery

Donation protected
I'd really appreciate it if you would share and donate to my GoFundMe campaign for my daughter! She needs $973 more for tumor surgery Monday. #operationmountwilbur

See below for more details.

I created this medical fundraiser for my daughter, Amanda Elisala.

Let me tell you about my daughter, Amanda. She is one of the most selfless people I know. She has always put family first. When she was 19 and in college, she left to help me take care of her grandparents very unexpectedly after my dad was involved in a 20+ car pileup (he was hit by a semi) suffering severe traumatic brain injuries. At the time, he was my already disabled mother’s caregiver. Weeks before his accident, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. Amanda left school and her job to help me take care of both parents for 2 ½ years until their respective deaths.

When I went through cancer four times, Amanda was my rock and my primary caregiver. I wasn’t able to work and Amanda took care of me and our household (which included taking care of my then teenage son and all his high school senior expenses). I don’t know what I would have done without Amanda. Amanda has always put family first. She is known and loved for always taking care of others and doing everything she possibly can to lighten the load for people in need.

Amanda will give you the shirt off her back. In fact, while working at urgent care, she literally gave her pants to a homeless man once. Thankfully, she had a pair of jeans in her trunk to wear the rest of the day! When she was studying abroad in Fiji and New Zealand for her ASU global health degree, she returned home with half of her belongings she left with because she noticed some young children and their families didn’t have adequate clothes and shoes.

ABOUT AMANDA’S TUMOR

About eight months ago, Amanda discovered swelling in her left knee. Initially, we thought it was just swelling from overdoing it on a hiking trip. (Amanda is a nature lover to loves to explore, hike and capture the beauty of this world which you can check out on Instagram @aelisala).  After all the normal first aid precautions, her knee seemingly healed.

For the last six months, this growth in her knee has increased in size, swelling, and pain. A recent MRI in July showed a 4.5 x 2.4 x 4.8 cm tumor. Imagine a lime squished underneath your kneecap. Ouch! This tumor is pressing against her knee, eating at her bone and getting larger by the month. The tumor is growing in a way that is wrapping around the patellar tendon underneath the kneecap and growing into the tibia and fibia.

BEST CASE SCENARIO FOR MEDICAL FUNDS NEEDED

Her bone oncology specialist indicated that the best-case scenario is that the tumor is benign and only requires surgery. Her recovery time would be 4-6 weeks.  Her biopsy confirmed the tumor is benign yet needs to come
put ASAP because it is eroding bone in her knee.

Thank you to to everyone who donated money so Amanda could have her biopsy.
We’ve already incurred $1,800 in medical expenses and/or payment plans and can’t  be financially extended further.

The amount needed includes the following breakdown:

$2,500 out of pocket expenses – This is the additional monies paid out of pocket before her insurance will pay most of her other expenses.

$1,060 approximate amount for doctor co-pays and prescriptions pre and post surgery and recovery

$973 add’l required on day of surgery, Monday, October 22nd.

This also includes monies for GoFundMe fees and the $1,800 in expenses being paid via payment plan.

Amanda would never ask for this money on her own. At 28 years of age, Amanda has her whole life to live and a beautiful world to explore. After spending her teens and most of her 20’s taking care of me, her siblings and grandparents, it's time for us to take care of Amanda!

We ask for your help in donating what you can to help remove this tumor and give Amanda a much-needed helping hand and peace of mind. Every dollar counts! Please share this with all your friends and family through all social media outlets.

THANK YOU doesn’t even begin to express our heartfelt appreciation. We’ll provide continual updates on this journey.  We believe in the power of prayer so all prayers and positive healing thoughts are very much appreciated.

With much love and gratitude,

Tandy, Sarah, and Steven Elisala on behalf of Amanda Elisala
