Hampden Water Main Break Flooding

I am starting this campaign on behalf of my Stanley Security co-worker Amanda Johnson. Amanda lives in Baltimore with her fiancé, 3 school age children and 4 year old and has suffered a devastating loss due to a water main break in Hampden. Amanda awoke 2:20 AM Saturday morning to freezing water running into her home from a frozen water main which had burst outside her front door. The pressure was so intense it broke the concrete steps and flowed down into her house. The water and mud kept coming in for over 52 hour until the city was able to stabilize the situation. The water depth reached 4 ft. in areas. The water has now been pumped out however a thick layer of mud is left behind as well as frozen muddy carpeting, padding, drywall, etc. They’ve been without heat in below freezing temperatures for over 4 days while they wait for it to be repaired but must start the cleanup effort regardless.
80% of their belongings are destroyed. Because the home is not in a flood zone they have no flood insurance leaving them with no assistance to recover, rebuild or replace. Most of the family’s possessions including photographs, heirlooms, furniture, appliances, clothing, collectibles, records, electronics, etc. have been destroyed. The carpeting and drywall will need to be replaced. They’ve been told unofficially that they would have to apply for re-imbursement from the city but they have no up-front assistance and no communication with the city as far as what they may actually reimburse.
