Amanda the Amazing

Sometimes you meet someone that sparks something in your soul. Amanda has that affect on a lot of people because she is truly one of a kind. No one has anything unkind to say about her and for good reason. She has fought cancer 3 times since her first diagnosis of hodgekins limphoma in 2010 and now she is gearing up for fight number 4. At a time when our world is being turned upside down with the COVID-19 virus Amanda has to sit alone in a hospital waiting for more tests and uncertainty. She thought she had pneumonia that wasn't helped with antibiotics. On March 28th she called me from work and said she needed to be seen again for the pneumonia bc she was running fever again.... Mind you she had just finished antibiotics the previous Wednesday and it was Saturday. In January she was treated as well and so this was alarming. I'm her GM but more than that we are like sisters. I took her to urgent care and we were sent to the ER following them seeing her x-ray stating it was worse than even the one in January. Once at the Hospital I had to sit in my car bc of COVID-19 (which she tested negative for yay!) and just be on speaker phone. After a CT we were told that she has a large mass in her chest that has caused her lung to partially collapse. We decided to have her transfered to UT southwest as that is where she has been treated all the times in the past for the cancer. Amanda knew this was coming but has avoided getting scans for the last 2 years bc she is already drowning in medical debt and as you can imagine getting a CT scan every 3 months adds up. She has been a faithful and hard-working employee for Racetrac over 15 years now.... Her 16 year will be this summer. She has worked with many people and anyone that has worked with her knows that she is the most dependable, hardworking, and kind person there is out there. She never asks for help and in fact is always the one helping others. As I write this I am waiting for her to get back from the biopsy that will hopefully give the drs a clear picture of what we are up against. What I do know is that any amount of help financially with the medical bills will be a big help with her fight. As you can imagine it is extremely stressful but knowing that some of the medical bills will be handled will help relieve some of the stress. Many people have reached out to ask how they can help... This is the fight of her life!  Please pray, share, and give if you can. Thank you so much for reading!
