I first would like to express our gratitude and thanks on behalf of Amanda, Brian and family. They are beyond words and appreciate everyone who has reached out to them and has endlessly prayed for them.

On the week of August 14, 2017 my sister, Amanda Simpson, was feeling a cramp in her lower back and went to the doctors. After a multitude of tests and scans it was discovered she had a 9-centimeter mass growing on her kidney.

On August 21, while waiting for the doctors to determine what the mass may be, one of her doctors called her to inform her that she had multiple nodules growing on both of her lungs.

On August 22, Amanda was admitted to Maine General Hospital in Augusta to have her kidney and mass removed. While during the surgery they discovered that the cancer might be worse than first expected and very likely has spread to her lungs.

The plan as of today is let Amanda’s body heal before biopsying the nodules on her lungs next week due to the fact that they are too close to veins within the lungs. Next week they will also be doing a full body PET scan to see if the cancer has spread any further than her lungs.

For those who know my sister she is the most caring, giving, genuine person I know! She would walk through fire if it meant she got the opportunity to help someone and has dedicated her chosen career to helping people as an Occupational Therapist. However, it is time for us to help her out.  Amanda has two little babies at home, Jack (2yrs old) and Grace (1yr old) who need their mother and need to spend as much time as possible with her. While battling cancer is beyond our control, we can continue to pray, think positively, and give as much as we can to this young family as they will be encountering many unexpected expenses from medical, to travel, and being out of work.

I will be using this page to provide updates for Amanda and the Simpson family, as they need to focus on Amanda's health. The next update will likely be given September 6th, as September 5th they will be speaking with their oncologist team and determining a treatment plan that will likely take them to Boston, Mass.

Please keep my sister and her young family in your thoughts and prayers throughout this ordeal, as we are praying for a miracle.

Thank you
