The Back Story
Amanda Kozak is an extremely loving and caring person. She always goes above and beyond to help others. This year she turned 29 years old and worked as an accountant in Winnipeg.
Amanda has spent the previous months working away for her little sister’s wedding. She worked hard to make the shower, bachelorette party and wedding amazing for everyone.
“Without Amanda I would not have had the most beautiful day. Everything went so perfectly. Little did I know that the best day of my life would also be the worst” -Samantha Kozak
On September 2, 2018. Samantha Kozak and Steven McMillan were set to say ‘I do’. With the help of Amanda Kozak, the Maid of Honor, and Brendan Cordingley, the Best Man, they were able to work through all the troubles that come with planning a wedding. It was a beautiful day and Amanda danced the night away with her sister.
Unfortunately a devastating accident occurred and Amanda was sent to the hospital for a neck injury. Once arriving to the hospital on the early morning of September 3, 2018, X-rays showed she had broken her C5 and C6 vertebrae and severed her spinal cord. She currently struggles to move her arms and has a hard time maintaining a regular breathing pattern. She will spend the rest of her life in a wheelchair.
Amanda is a very independent person who likes to do things on her own. What we are trying to do is raise money to help her live in a home that allows her to live independently and purchase a wheel chair that is compatible with her needs. Right now she is relying on others to do everything for her. This is hard because she would rather help others than be helped.
The costs associated with Amanda will continue to add up. We want to be able to raise as much money as we can to be able to create a life and home for her that allows her to have accessibility and reduce her limitations any way we can.
How you can help
We are amazed by the amount of love and support we have received and unfortunately no amount of money will ever change what happened that day. Hopefully what we can do is provide her with the tools and support she needs to accomplish her goals in life. Thank you for all of your support you have given to Amanda during this time.
