Anpa'o is going to New Zealand!

Dear Relatives,


I was lucky enough to be accepted at the University of Auckland in New Zealand and I will be studying there this upcoming spring semester. I am so excited to embark on this amazing new venture in life but it cannot be possible without additional funds. This semester, I will be taking courses that will further my educational journey and hopefully give me more insight as I plan for my upcoming senior thesis. 

My adventure begins in February and I hope through my community, I will be able to reach my goal. My plan is to raise a total of $1,620. The total accounts for traveling expenses, tuition fees, medical emergency, meals, etc.  


Any contribution is meaningful and welcomed. Also, if you could spread the word, that would be extremely helpful as well <3

To learn more about me: 


My name is Anpa’o Locke. I am from Standing Rock, and I went to high school in the Denver area. I am Afro-Indigenous and a huge part of my educational journey has been learning more about how I can serve my community and give back to the youth. I am currently a junior at Mount Holyoke College, majoring in Film Studies with a concentration in video production. Most of my research has been based on the creation of Indigenous Cinema. I am so glad to be able to take classes, such as a Decolonizing the Screen while abroad and learn more specifically about Indigenous cinema from a different perspective (Maori studies!!!). 


My long term goals include pursuing my PhD in Indigenous studies and Film studies. I am so excited for this journey as an Indigenous scholar!
