Our beautiful sister in Christ, Allyson Hodak, the wife of FBCS school administrator Alan Hodak, has been diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic colon cancer.

Alan and Allyson moved to Minnesota in 2003, where Alan became the Chisago Lakes Baptist School administrator for seven years. Allyson taught part-time at the school. In 2010, Alan and Allyson moved their family to Plymouth, MN, to take over the reins at Fourth Baptist Christian School. Alan served as the administrator, and Allyson served as a junior high Bible teacher and the director of the hot lunch program. In addition, Alan served as the Executive Director of the Minnesota Association of Christian Schools (MACS) organization. Always faithful and caring, Allyson could often be seen serving food for the coach's room at tournaments and other MACS events. Alan and Allyson together have served us faithfully and lovingly walked alongside us over the years for the cause of Christian education, loving our families and helping our Christian schools.

Allyson recently went to the doctor for a cough and other symptoms. As the symptoms did not improve with antibiotics, testing was done through chest X-rays, bloodwork, ultrasound, CT Scans, and a liver biopsy. All test results pointed to cancer that started in the colon and metastasized to the liver, lymph nodes, and possibly the lungs. After testing, oncologists met with Alan and Allyson, giving them little hope. The diagnosis was grim (six months), and the prognosis with chemotherapy was possibly an extension of life from two to six years. Looking at the side effects of the drugs, the "one-size fits all" every other week treatment, and the lack of hope, they turned to a search for something else. Another option was found that would include integrative therapies and a personalized plan for attacking the cancer.

The treatment program is a 12-week treatment program that will require out-of-state travel and accommodations. Allyson will stay the duration while following a plan to attack the cancer with genetically targeted chemotherapy directed at each tumor while building up her immune system. There is no guaranteed outcome as the cancer is in an advanced stage, but we have hope that through this unique treatment program specifically designed for her, the treatment will be effective.

We truly need your financial help and prayers to support Allyson and Alan through this heartbreaking and difficult time. All funds will go directly to them to help with the costs.

Please pray, and thank you for giving to help our beautiful sister and brother in Christ, Allyson and Alan Hodak.
