In Honor of Macsen. Home Sweet Home.

On July 24, 2013 at 10:44pm, my sweet sister, Rosie, delivered a sleeping baby boy into this world. Macsen Paddayuman was due on September 17, 2013, but after a spontaneous placental abruption, Rosie began bleeding and by the time she and her husband, Ray, made it to the ER, Macsen's heart was no longer beating. Rosie had to the endure the heartbreaking task of delivering her angel into this world.

Soon after his delivery, she developed a life threatening condition, DIC, and had to be rushed to ICU to receive a blood transfusion. After being stabilized, Rosie and Ray were discharged. Just a week before Macsen's passing, Rosie and Ray had just moved into a new house that they purchased for their growing family. Like any mother would, Rosie is grieving deeply, blaming herself and re-living every step, trying to imagine what she could have done differently, including not moving.

Right now, more than ever, Rosie needs to know that she is not to blame, and she deserves to feel that their new home is still and can be a happy place. No one can ever replace Macsen, and though they can't see him or touch him, I know he's with them. On the evening he passed, after weeks of scorching high temperatures, the night winds were cool. The peculiar weather continued the following day, which felt like a gorgeous fall day in the middle of July. Macsen was due in the fall, his mommy's favorite season, and I believe that inexplicably soothing weather was his way of showing his parents that he is with them.

While Macsen will always be loved and remembered, Rosie and Ray will eventually heal and hurt just a little less. But they have a long road ahead. So many friends have reached out asking how they can help and besides the power of prayer, one way I thought we could come together to support Rosie and Ray is to help them make their house a home, and help them to make it the happy place they planned for it be.

"There is no foot too small that it cannot leave an imprint on this world."
-In loving memory of my sweet angel nephew, Macsen Paddayuman.
