Helping Alternative Baseball
Alternative Baseball Organization, Inc. is a developmental baseball program for teens and adults with autism and special needs. The organization provides structured practices, exhibition games (featuring experienced umpires), and a social learning environment for all to be accepted for who they are, and given the confidence to be the best they can be.
The Alternative Baseball Organization was founded by Taylor Duncan, a young 21-year old man on the autism spectrum. Duncan felt the need to provide a developmental and encouraging for those to benefit from the sport of baseball not only as a player, but as people. Duncan used his years in slowpitch softball and baseball to improve his social skills and used his experiences to build a more positive outlook.
The organization held the very first All-Star Game in Marietta, Georgia in November of 2016. The All-Star Game was the very first professional-style 9-inning game to feature both past and present professional baseball players and players with autism and special needs. The 2nd Annual All-Star Game was held on November 11, 2017 and featured more players with Major League experience, as well as more who currently play in a Major League organization's farm system. The proceeds from both events went towards the organization's goal to break barriers and turn disabilities into abilities.
After the event, the organization started receiving requests for assistance from neighborhoods in 25+ states and countries who are interested in joining the Alternative Baseball network and starting up their own independent chapters.
We are in need of funds towards our operating expenses in order to continue our main goal to provide this opportunity throughout the next year to new communities and our existing club we've worked endlessly hard to establish.
