<div>Our family represents 3 generations of Altadena natives who have loved our town for 60+ years. We have been local teachers, students, homeowners, and family-owned businesses in the Altadena-Pasadena area from the 1940s to the present day. Since 2007, our family’s small business Platinum Stitches has offered premium embroidery, silk screening, and print services for industrial advertisement by crafting detailed custom design services by hand. Through our small business, we’ve served a range of community fixtures and organizations such as our local fire departments, The Altadena Town Council, The Rotary Club of Altadena, The Altadena Chamber of Commerce, and The Altadena Sherriff’s Department in addition to our neighboring schools, libraries, and other local businesses.

<div>The Eaton fire has devastated the local small business economy of Altadena, destroying countless storefronts that anchored their communities within hours. Our town has had the 2nd highest number of Black-owned businesses and real estate per square mile in LA county and 73% of these homes and businesses are now gone. While we are relieved to report that our shop is still standing, the future of our business remains uncertain. Without any information about when the town will be approved for repopulation, when basic utilities will be restored, or when repairs may take place, our means of providing for the household have been completely suspended. In the meantime, our family still needs the resources to afford the unexpected costs of shelter, food, and many aspects of recovery during this time.

<div>We are beyond grateful to have our family business intact but are still deeply affected by the aftermath of this disaster. We are in urgent need of support from the greater community to weather this season of complete uncertainty and devastation.
