Benefit for Alpha Institute by Supernova Ska Fest

Donation protected

The Supernova International Ska Festival needs your help!! We are launching the 2020 Supernova Ska Festival: Quarantine Edition, a virtual festival featuring ska bands from across the world and all eras of ska. It will take place on Saturday, June 13 starting at 6:00pm ET with Coolie Ranx as your emcee.

More importantly, Supernova is using this event to launch a new music education initiative for at-risk youth attending the historic Alpha Institute in Jamaica, formerly Alpha Boys’ School, as they celebrate their 140th anniversary.

This school has changed the lives of thousands of boys who attend school while learning a trade to help them gain employment after graduation. One of those trades, as we well know, is music and the Alpha band changed the world, producing such legendary musicians as Don Drummond, Tommy McCook, Rico Rodriguez, and Lester Sterling. Join us and help us make a difference for aspiring musicians at Alpha!!

Our goal will allow us to donate $1,000 toward music instruments to Alpha's training program and cover the cost of a full scholarship ($5,500) for a deserving Alpha student. The scholarship includes academic tuition, vocational training, nutrition (2 meals per day for the school year), bus fare assistance for the year, one-on-one counselling and work experience.
