College Fund for Link's son, Isaiah

Donation protected
Link's family has established this college savings fund as an alternative for contributions in lieu of flowers.  Alonzo "Link" Smith was diagnosed  in May 2014 with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.  He fought this terrible disease since he first became ill in April.  Sadly, he unexpectedly lost the battle on Sunday, November 9 when he passed away at Sentara Hospital in Woodbridge, VA.

Link grew up in Hampton, VA and attended college at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA.  He spent many happy years in Blacksburg where he began his career with Sysco Corporation and his son Isaiah was born in 1998.  Since that time, Link and Isaiah have shared many hours together watching Hokie football and basketball and talking about the time when Isaiah would follow in his parents' footsteps and also become a Hokie.  Isaiah will be graduating from Broadneck High School in June 2016 and hopes to continue pursuing his education at his parents' alma mater.

Link's funeral will take place Saturday, November 22, 11:00 a.m. at Smith Brothers Funeral Home, 545 E Mercury Blvd, Hampton, VA 23663.   Viewing will be held at the same location from 9-11 a.m.  Interment to follow at Hampton Memorial Gardens.   In lieu of flowers, contributions to Isaiah's college fund would be greatly appreciated and would have filled Link's heart with joy.
